Dr. Elise Friedland of Rollins College and Minda Stephens receive
AIA Local Society Incentive Grant 2008 in Chicago, January 5, 2008
The Central Florida Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (CFS, AIA) is pleased to announce that the organization has been awarded the Archaeological Institute of America’s 2008 Local Society Incentive Grant.
The grant is given to the chapter which proposes a project that will enhance the study and awareness of archaeology on a local, national and international level. The Archaeological Institute of America issued a framed certificate to Minda A. Stephens (screenwriter and author of the grant) who is pictured with Dr. Elise Friedland (former CFS, AIA President and former Professor of Classical Studies at Rollins College).
The grant, entitled Hands Across Time is planned for the production of two short film scripts, written by Ms Stephens. Hands Across Time includes a short film, The Hands of the Potter, that follows a young archeologist working at a dig and flashes back in time to ancient Greece for an overlapping dialogue with a potter.
The production of the DVD will take place in the spring and summer of 2008 and culminate with a premiere in the fall of 2008, accompanied by a lecture regarding the tools, study and preservation involved in archaeological work. Additionally there will be a short promotional DVD, explaining the operations, mission statement and function of the Central Florida Society.
