
Dr. Rabun Taylor, Assistant Professor in the Department of Classical Studies at the University of Texas, Austin, will reveal
some of the interesting quirks and eccentricities of this renowned building and discuss what his survey of the building’s
eight-column-wide porch can tell us about the history and patronage of the temple’s construction.
Professor Rabun Taylor received his Ph.D. in Classical Studies from the University of Minnesota, and has held numerous prestigious fellowships including the Ryskamp Fellowship of the American Council of Learned Societies and the Sabbatical Fellowship of the American Philosophical Society. He specializes in Roman art, architecture and urbanism, and the culture
of ancient Italy and his recent book, “Roman Builders: A Study in Architectural Process,” which was published in 2003 by Cambridge University Press, is widely acclaimed. He has been an active member of the AIA, including holding various offices
with the Boston Society.
